Bangor filmmaker posts historic videos online

A BANGOR filmmaker has created an online treasure trove of videos.

Lifelong Bangor City fan Mal Edwards, aged 72, has posted a video history of Farrar Road on Youtube, including its demolition.

He said: “Farrar Road was part of growing up for me, and when Bangor scored, you could hear the roar from the bottom of town - it was that kind of atmosphere.

“This film would bring a tear to many a good supporter’s eye.”

The 10 minute clip shows footage of match days at the ground, and also covers the first game at Nantporth earlier this year.

The channel also features City’s 2-0 friendly defeat in 1969 to a Manchester United side boasting George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Mal travelled to South Wales to capture the atmosphere of the Aberfan mining disaster in 1966, and also shot footage of Prince Charles’ investiture at Caernarfon Castle in 1969
