Children and staff at Canolfan Addysg y Bont have teamed up with BBC Radio Cymru presenter and singer Catrin Angharad to release their first ever Christmas single.

The song - ‘Hei Sion Corn’ - which is available on Spotify and ITunes - has already been streamed throughout the UK and as far as Tanzania and Australia.

All proceeds from sales of the song will go to Canolfan Addysg y Bont to support projects and initiatives at the special school in Llangefni.

Canolfan Addysg y Bont music teacher Gethin Thomas wrote the song with colleague Lowri Carlisle.

Gethin also mentored the young musicians and helped them make their first recording.

Gethin said: “All of the children are extremely excited to have been a part of making a Christmas song.

"Music is an incredibly important part of education, it allows children to express themselves and learn new skills.

“It’s been a great experience for our pupils. We are really hoping that the song can go viral on social media and people can appreciate the hard work the children have put into this project.”

Pupils from Canolfan Addysg y Bont will be performing alongside music teacher Gethin Thomas on S4C’s Noson Lawen programme over the festive period.

Anglesey's Education Portfolio Holder, Cllr Meirion Jones, said: “It is great to see the school community come together to work on such a wonderful project.

"The song itself is fantastic and all the pupils and staff involved should be extremely proud.”

“I urge the people of Anglesey and beyond to get behind Hei Sion Corn and help the school get as many streams as possible.”
