BEAUMARIS lifeboat was launched to rescue three people from a boat near Puffin Island which suffered engine failure.

The volunteer crew launched the Annette Mary Liddinton at 4.15pm on Saturday and located the stricken vessel about three quarters of a mile North of the Lighthouse at Penmon.

One engine of the 32 ft motor vessel had overheated and the other engine was judged unreliable.

While being escorted by the lifeboat, the craft on reaching the east side of Puffin Island, the second engine began to show signs of overheating.

The lifeboat took the boat in tow and proceeded to Conwy.

The Penmon Coastguard Rescue Team was stood down and the Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Team met the boat at Conwy.

The lifeboat was then released to return to station arriving back shortly after 6pm.
