A GWYNEDD man accused of threatening to stab a boy of 16 with scissors in Bangor high street was jailed for 16 months on Thursday.
Daniel Donaghue, 28, of Maes Hyfryd, Garndolbenmaen, said to have drug and mental health issues and who gets about £500 a month in benefits, was seen by a police community support officer.
The PCSO heard him shout :”I am going to f---ing kill you,” Caernarfon crown court was told.
Prosecuting counsel Gareth Roberts said the disturbance happened late afternoon on June 10 after Donaghue demanded £20.
The defendant admitted having a bladed item and threatening someone.
Judge Huw Rees said no injury had been caused but it was “frightening and serious” behaviour.
“At that time of day one would have thought people would have been allowed to proceed around the streets of Bangor in peace and quiet in any civilised society,” the judge remarked.
Onlookers had appeared frightened and shocked.
Andrew Green, defending, said: “Mercifully this was a relatively short-lived incident. No injuries were caused.” Donaghue handed over the scissors to police and had ADHD.
