PIONEERING social enterprise, Antur Waunfawr, has been celebrated with a prestigious award at this year's Social Business Wales awards.

Based in both Waunfawr and Caernarfon, the business has been recognised for the important work its staff has been doing for over thirty years.

Currently, Antur has 90 employees who deliver essential support and guidance to over 60 local people with learning difficulties.

Last Wednesday, members of staff attended the Social Business Wales awards ceremony at Cardiff's City Hall to pick up their "Health and Social award".

Antur Waunfawr's senior service manager, Stephen Goodwin, said: "We are delighted to have won this important award, and that we have been recognised for the work we provide for adults with learning disabilities.

"The regular program of activities has made a positive difference to the health and well-being of the individuals, and we are looking forward to developing these opportunities."

Set up in 1984 by R.Gwynn Davies, Antur Waunfawr aims to integrate the people it supports with every aspect of its work.

The winners from the awards night in Cardiff will now go forward to compete with their counterparts from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland at a UK Awards ceremony being held in central London next month.
