A 21-year-old man described as “a prolific shoplifter” had the case against him adjourned at a weekend court in order to obtain a probation report.
Magistrates at Llandudno heard that Shane Lee Roberts of Pentraeth, Llangefni, was already on a community order when he stole six times from shops – five of the thefts this month.
Angharad Mullarkey, prosecuting, said he had carried out 21 thefts this year.
He pleaded guilty to stealing on four occasions from Asda at Bangor or Llangefni, from the Co-op at Holyhead and Lidl at Bangor.
Items stolen included groceries, meat and baby milk powder.
Bethan Williams, defending, said the reason for the thefts was an addiction to a class A drug.
He was receiving help from mental health services at Llangefni and was hoping for a residential detoxification course.
Roberts was given conditional bail to appear at Caernarfon court on Thursday.
One of the conditions is that he keeps out of the stores mentioned in the charges.
Court chairman David Subbachi warned him that if he kept offending at the present rate, he would be going to prison.
