STUDENTS from Grwp Llandrillo Menai campuses have collected a total sum of £4,676 for mental health charity MIND during a huge fundraising effort.

The Students Union chose MIND as the college's charity of the year for 2017/18 before arranging numerous fundraising activities to help raise money for MIND Môn a Gwynedd, Aberconwy and Vale of Clwyd.

Students at the Coleg Menai campus in Bangor managed to raise £2,160 which they have since donated towards MIND Môn a Gwynedd.

"Coleg Menai’s fundraising for Mind Môn a Gwynedd has been wonderful, and we are so grateful – £2,160 is an amazing amount of money," A spokesperson for the charity said.

"We’ve been keeping an eye on all the different fundraising activities that the Student Union has been arranging and helping out with, and it’s been great seeing everyone getting involved.

"All of the money raised for Mind Môn a Gwynedd will go back into services supporting young people in our local community, including all of Coleg Menai’s campuses. Thank you so much for all your hard work. We really appreciate it.”

Nathan Davies, Student Union President at Coleg Menai for 2017/18, added: "I’m overwhelmed that we’ve raised so much.

"We decided as a Student Union to support our local Mind charities as the Grŵp charity of the year for 2017/18, and we chose Mind Môn a Gwynedd for Coleg Menai as it is such a worthwhile cause.

"Mental health affects us directly as students, and it has been an honour to raise awareness of the fantastic services that Mind offers our students.

"I’m proud to have been part of the fundraising activities, especially as the money we have raised will go straight back to support more and more students at Coleg Menai."
