BANGOR University’s collections will be open to the public as a part of the Open Doors series taking place there this month.

As of Saturday, September 15, the event will give guests the opportunity to have a look at some of Gwynedd and Conwy’s historical buildings, gardens and unusual locations all for free right up until the end of the month.

The University’s Archives Department will be providing visitors with a feast of manuscripts and there will be opportunities to discuss the variety of archival collections that are held in the building.

Visitors will also be guided to the council chamber corridor to view the “Penrhyn” exhibition. The English session will be held between 10.30am-11.30am and in Welsh from 12pm-1pm.

The event will also provide the opportunity to visit Bangor University’s Natural History Museum, Brambell Building, which is not usually accessible to the public.

There, guests can learn more about the animals on display and ask questions to the experts available.

David Roberts will also be leading tours of the Main Arts building, talking about its background and architectural features.

If you are interested in attending the talks or tours at the university, booking in advance is necessary. Call 01248 383276 or email archives@bangor.ac.uk for the Archives services or contact 01248 353368 or storiel@gwynedd.llyw.cymru for the guided tours.
