A couple who returned in the daytime to their Bangor home had come across an intruder in the hallway, a court heard on Friday.
Glyn Lewis, aged 42, of Plas Marchogion, Bangor, ran off after a struggle with a man but was filmed by the householder’s wife on a mobile phone, Caernarfon crown court was told.
He was jailed for 90 days after admitting burglary. Prosecutor Elen Owen said he had at least three previous burglaries among his 192 offences on his record.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said Lewis had taken controlled drugs and prescription medication on the day of the burglary. He was very sorry and wished to remain drug-free.
Judge David Hale said it was an “opportunistic” burglary after Lewis saw an open window.
“You have got an appalling record,” the judge told him. “You haven’t contributed to society at all.”
A 28 days suspended sentence was also activated.
