FIRE crews have raced to Bangor mountain after dozens of people reported seeing a large blaze on Monday afternoon.

The North Wales Fire and Rescue service have confirmed that there is a large grass and gorse fire currently burning above the town.

Two crews from Bangor are on the mountain, with two pumps.

Fire fighters are using beaters and a main jet to deal with the fire which can be seen from a distance.

Other fires have been reported at Newborough Forest, Anglesey, and across Gwynedd at Talsarnau, Rhiw near Pwllheli, and Llyncil near Bala.
