TOUR DE CYMRU cyclists set-off on their epic 320 mile journey across Wales this week.

The 4-day cycling challenge, which started on Thursday, aims to raise money to help disabled people in Wales get access to sport.

Charity Leonard Cheshire has organised the event for a second year running as cyclists travel all the way from Anglesey to Swansea.

Ynys Mon AM Rhun ap Iorwerth joined the group of 11 cyclists as they prepared to take off from The Bull Hotel in Llangefni on Thursday morning.

"I was pleased to be able to wish the cyclists all the best as they set off on their mammoth journey from north to south Wales," he said.

"Not only are they raising money to help disabled people have access to sporting event and equipment, but they will also be raising awareness of the inclusive sports facilities we already have in this country.

"I don’t envy them in this hot weather, but I wish them the very best on their Tour de Cymru."

The money raised from the Tour will be used to support disabled people who use Leonard Cheshire’s services in Wales to have access to adapted sports and physiotherapy equipment.

This could range from wheelchair dancing, bowling, archery or horse-riding, to something as simple as supporting disabled people to see their favourite team play live.
