A WOMAN who went to an estate agent’s on work experience as a school pupil 24 years ago has been appointed as its newest director.

Ann Evans Jones, who was placed at Morgan Evans while attending Ysgol David Hughes in Menai Bridge in 1994, said she knew all along that she belonged at the firm.

“After that initial work experience week, I spent every subsequent summer working at the Morgan Evans Auction Centre at Gaerwen,” she said.

“I knew that I wanted a job where I could be out and about and I knew that I wanted something with links to agriculture.

“I eventually went to Harper Adams College to do a four-year rural enterprise and land management course, thinking at the time that this might lead me back to Morgan Evans.”

A spokesman for Morgan Evans said of the newest member of the board of executive directors: “She is a very valuable member of the team and brings an enthusiastic and forward-thinking element with her.

“With her input, as well as the expertise and experience of the other members of the board, we look forward to an exciting and bright future for our company.”

Ms Evans Jones, who lives in Llanddona, went to work for the National Trust in Betws-y-Coed in 2002 and after a year, she was offered work with Anglesey Council’s property department, where she stayed for eight years.

She finally landed her desired role as a chartered surveyor with Morgan Evans in 2012.

Morgan Evans, company chairman and founder, said: “Since I started my company as a one man band in the mid-‘60s, I have been careful that any additional member of staff we took on blended well with the established team.

“Ann has fitted in perfectly. We are a totally independent family company with traditional values, but always looking to the future and I am very pleased that we have a fresh voice from Ann on the board of directors.”
