THE launch of a new lunch club in Bangor proved a big hit with dozens of people who enjoyed a hearty free meal.

Organised by the RVS, the lunch club for the over-50s at Hirael runs every Wednesday at 12.45pm at Hirael School during term time.

For the first two weeks, to celebrate the club’s launch, free meals were served. Thereafter the price is £5 per person for two courses comprising a roast dinner and pudding, followed by a cuppa. The meals are prepared by a team at the school.

Gwenda Hughes of the RVS said: “Everyone was so happy at our new Bangor Lunch Club. Thanks to all those who attended, the staff at Hirael School, Royal Voluntary Service volunteers who helped and the Mayor of Bangor and his wife for their support!”

The lunch club is now looking for more volunteers to act as as volunteer drivers. For anyone who wants to join, transport can be arranged by prior arrangement. Booking is essential. Contact the RVS Gwynedd and Môn on 01248 661915 or email ynysmongwyneddhub@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk
