THE STAR of a popular ITV drama stunned employees at an Anglesey restaurant by popping in for some food and drink last week.

James Nesbitt surprised workers at Beaumaris' Midland Tapas and Wine Bar when he visited on April 30.

Staff say that the 53-year-old, best known for his role as Adam Williams in ITV series 'Cold Feet', sat alone at the bar before having a few drinks, some food and taking photos with guests.

"He was very complementary about the food and wine," said Emma Brown, who co-owns the restaurant with her partner David Owen.

"He was very funny and really nice to talk to and took the time to speak to everyone.

"He was chatting to us about Cold Feet – although he wouldn’t give much away about the new series – and he told us how much he liked Anglesey."

ITV filming crews have been spotted on Anglesey in recent weeks, shooting scenes for the upcoming eighth series of Cold Feet which is set to air later this year.

The scenes filmed at Church Island, just off Anglesey, are said to be of a wedding which takes place at St.Tysilio's Church.

The Midland Tapas and Wine Bar, which recently won best Mediterranean Restaurant of the Year at the 2018 Food Award Wales, was recommended to Nesbitt by staff at Chateau Rhianfa where cast are rumoured to have been staying.

The Northern Irish star dined at The Midland Tapas and Wine Bar even though other cast members and film crew had gone to eat elsewhere.

"He said the others had missed out not eating at The Midland with him," Emma continued.

"He said that both the food and wine here was superb and that he would love to work his way through the menu."

The Cold Feet series was created by Mike Bullen and follows the stories of a group of friends through their chaotic lives.

Parts of the original series in the early 2000's were filmed in Portmeirion, Gwynedd.
