A MEMBER of Clwb Nofio Bangor Swimming Club has returned from a major swimming gala in South Wales with an impressive collection of medals.

Marcus Maniago was one of nine swimmers who represented the club at the recent Swim Wales 2018 Long Course Championships in Swansea and came away with six medals to his name.

The 12-year-old won two gold (200 metre breaststroke and 1500 Freestyle), two silver (400m individual medley and 100m breaststroke) and two bronze medals (50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley).

Fellow club member Hannah MacLennan won Bronze in the 50m Backstroke in the 15–16 age group category and Pierre Gutierrez scooped the Bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke in the 13-14 age group.

The other swimmers who represented Clwb Nofio Bangor in Swansea were Cerys Goggin, Alex Hummel, Ceri Jones, Lucy McGrath, Sian Snyman and Ellen Torrington.

Two other swimmers, Mali D’Arcy and Catrin Barnes, represented Nofio Gwynedd at the gala.

Catrin reached the finals in her events and Mali won Gold in the 50m Fly (17 and over age group) and Bronze in the 100m Freestyle race.

A spokesperson for Clwb Nofio Bangor congratulated all members who participated in Swansea.

"Well done to all those who competed in the gala and thank you to the coaches, Ben Hellfeld and Adam Hummel too." he said.

"A big thank you must also go to the parents who also travelled to Swansea to show their support for their children and to W.R. Davies, Llangefni for letting us use of one of their minibuses to travel in."
