A MAN charged with assault and damage has been cleared after the prosecution dropped the case against him.
Jamie Cowell, 31, of Beach Road in Bangor, had been remanded in custody charged with common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.
He appeared via a live television link from Altcourse Prison, Liverpool, at Mold Crown Court today.
The prosecution said that the evidence had been reviewed and it had been decided not to proceed any further.
The complain had not only retracted her statement but had said her original statement was inaccurate.
Medical evidence had also been reviewed which undermined the prosecution case.
Judge Rhys Rowlands formally found him not guilty but said the police needed to look into the matter further because the defendant had been remanded in custody following the original allegations.
