A man remains in a critical condition after being stabbed in Holyhead.

Police received a report from the ambulance service that a man had been stabbed behind the Waterside flats at 12.01am on Wednesday.

Officers arrived at scene in minutes and provided first-aid to a 28-year-old local man.

Two ambulances attended and the male was taken hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

DCI Brian Kearney said: “We are appealing for witnesses who noticed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Waterside Flats or adjoining streets between 10pm last night, Tuesday, March 6 and 12.30am, Wednesday, to come forward.

“North West Wales remains one of the safest parts of the UK and we would appeal to our local community to come forward in confidence to us with any information they have on the identity of the attackers.

"Whilst Incidents of this nature are isolated we can only solve such crimes with the full support and assistance of our community.”

He added: “We are very grateful to the ambulance service and A&E staff at Ysbyty Gwynedd for their efforts overnight to save this young male’s life.”
