ONLINE information about Anglesey planning applications, school provision, countryside access and more can now be accessed at the touch of a button.

The Isle of Anglesey County Council has launched its Geographical Information System (GIS) or MapMÔN as it is known.

Accessed via the council's website, the MapMÔN system allows people to search using three information tabs: My House, My Nearest and My Maps.

Under the 'My Hous'e tab, users can enter their house number, name or postcode.

They can then view their house on a map, see property details, find out who is their local council representative, MP or AM, as well as find out which school is nearest their property and its catchment details.

Under the 'My Nearest,' tab, information on schools and planning applications within 50m of their property is provided.

On the third tab 'My Maps,' it is possible to view recent and historic planning applications, police crime figures, countryside access information as well as the Joint Local Development Plan.

Anglesey council’s transformation portfolio holder, Councillor Dafydd Thomas said: “MapMÔN is a positive step forward in terms of our corporate website and it will allow residents to find different information at a click of a button.

"The information is stored in what is known as layers which can be selected to show information on the map and table (if the information is available). It is also possible to select multiple layers and have them all presented at the same time on the map.

“Hopefully, in the near future, we will be able to use the mapping section to display more varied information, enabling us to provide a quicker more efficient service for the island’s residents.”

Information on the web mapping system will be continually updated with other services being added to the system.
