WORKERS and partners who support young people in Gwynedd will get the chance to meet with agencies from the employment, skills, education, training and volunteering sectors at a networking event in Caernarfon.

The event, being held at the Celtic Royal Hotel, in the town, will offer an opportunity to showcase support available and also gives organisations the chance to promote their services to the people who support young people on a day to day basis.

The event is part of a wider campaign through the Welsh Government’s Youth Development and Engagement Framework to reduce the number of young people between 16 and 24 who are not in education, training nor employment.

As part of the work of implementing the framework, Gwynedd Council and other local authorities work closely with ‘Gyrfa Cymru’, youth services, schools, colleges and other partners.

The aim is to ensure that young people who are not in employment, education not training (NEET), or who are in danger of disengaging from education, training or employment, are identified and are given the support they need.

Councillor Craig ab Iago, Gwynedd Council cabinet member for youth services said: “This networking event is part of co-ordinating the support that is available to workers and young people to ensure that they are aware of the services available to them.

“A range of organisations will be present, representing specific sectors such as employment, skills, education, volunteering, in addition to a variety of specialist and support services.

"The event will raise awareness of key workers who support and work with young people regarding type of support and provision available in Gwynedd for the 16-24 age group as well as providing an opportunity for key agencies to work together for the benefit of our young people.”

Councillor Dilwyn Morgan, Gwynedd Council's cabinet member with responsibility for children and families added: “I’m looking forward to attending this event as part of my role. It’s important that those who support young people in Gwynedd are given the opportunity to network with numerous organisations in order to help them deliver the best possible support. I urge those who work with and support young people in Gwynedd to register for the event and get involved.”

The Partnership Networking is on Wednesday, March 7, between 9:30am and 12pm, at the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon.

There will be more than 20 different organisations and services present from within the employment, skills, education, training and volunteering sectors, along with organizations who provide specialist services.
