Bangor University keeps its place in national rankings

The figures are according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings released on Tuesday, September  5.

In addition, Bangor University is also placed within the top 10% of universities globally for its International Outlook.

A total of 1102 institutions were included in this year’s rankings, which measured institutions on factors such as teaching, research and international outlook.

The university’s position among the world’s best universities is the latest in a number of league tables and surveys.

Earlier this year, Bangor University was awarded Gold for the standard of its teaching in the UK Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework, becoming the only university in Wales to be awarded the standard.

And, the university’s students have, for the fourth year in a row, given the establishment a resounding testimonial in the annual National Student Satisfaction survey, this time placing the university eighth among the UK’s non-specialist universities in the UK and second among Welsh Universities.

The university also saw success at the 2017WhatUni Awards, with its Students’ Union Clubs and Societies deemed to be the best in the UK.

Also in 2017 and as a result of its commitment to the sustainability agenda, the university was recognised by the UI Green Metric as being in the top 4% of the world’s greenest universities.

Vice-Chancellor Professor John G Hughes said: “I am thrilled that Bangor University is once again ranked amongst the best in the world, and especially in the Top 10% for our international outlook.  

“The impact of our research, often in collaboration with international partners, is felt across the globe. In addition to this, the high standard of our teaching and the environment in which we work makes Bangor an attractive destination for students and staff alike.”
