NORTH Wales Police are investigating after a yacht was stolen and set alight on the Menai Strait near Bangor.
PC Huw Garland, at Bangor Police Station, said: “At 9.30pm on Wednesday, July 5, we received reports of a boat on fire on the shoreline of the Menai Strait near Penrhyn Quay.
“Emergency Services were quickly on the scene but the yacht was completely destroyed. Fortunately no one was injured.
“We believe the vessel, a single mast catamaran, was stolen from near-by Penrhyn Quay just a short time before and our initial enquiries have identified at least two suspects seen running from the scene.
“We are eager to identify and speak with two men aged in their late teen or early 20’s dressed in a dark and light top, possibly hoodies and wearing dark trousers or possibly shorts.”
