A MUM who chased a fellow driver and crashed her Audi after loose chippings were thrown up at it, has been jailed for 20 months.

Alison Gray, aged 36, of Tyn Berllan Estate, Bryngwran, Anglesey, was also banned for three years and must retake her driving test.

She admitted causing serious injury to a girl passenger by dangerous-driving, drink-driving and being uninsured.

Caernarfon Crown Court heard the mum of three had been furious after the other driver overtook her. She accelerated to 60mph but when the VW Golf involved swerved, she braked heavily and lost control, hitting the kerb and a wall.

Gray, who wept in the dock, and her passenger were trapped in the wreckage of her car at Bryngwran nearly a year ago.

Jade Tufail, defending, said she had been experiencing a “turbulent” time, but Judge Huw Rees said: “Driving of this nature calls for a deterrent sentence.”

The other motorist Peter Davey, 38, a garage worker, of London Road, Valley, Anglesey, was fined £200 with seven penalty points for careless driving.
