NEW Bangor City boss Ian Dawes has called for his side to be more consistent after they suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Carmarthen Town. The new man at the helm was unable to claim a win in his opening fixture, and the Citizens will look to get back to winning ways this Sunday when they travel to Ton Pendre in the JD Welsh Cup (3pm).Dawes said: “It is a very poor result which is now two back-to-back which is something we have to change.“We have been conceding far too many goals from open play and while we avoided that, to lose two goals from set pieces was very disappointing.“It is going to take some time as I look to implement my style of play on the team, but we need to be more consistent so that we can become more of an attacking threat and go on a run.“Obviously it is not ideal just having the lads a couple of times a week, but I am happy with the squad I have although I may look to bring one or two in come January.”Despite some early City pressure, Lewis Harling had a good chance to hand the Old Gold the lead but despite beating keeper Connor Roberts, his shot hit a post.Town took the lead on 26 minutes when Liam Thomas converted from a corner, but the home side rallied and levelled just before the break courtesy of a superb 30-yard drive from Brayden Shaw. The hosts missed a number of chances after the break, and they were made to pay for their inefficiency in-front of goal when Lee Surman headed home a free-kick on 66 minutes. The defender went from hero to zero when he was red-carded for a reckless challenge on 86 minutes, but the visiting defence managed to repel a wave of City attacks to seal the win.
