A STUNNING bowling display kept Bangor in the hunt for the North Wales Premier Division crown after a two wicket win over Hawarden Park.

The narrow victory in difficult condition ensured Rob Marshall’s side remain in the title race, 24 points behind leaders Llandudno ahead of Saturday’s clash with Pontblyddyn at Ty Newydd.

Electing to field proved to be an inspired choice from the home skipper, with David Winter and Francois Mosert removing openers Campbell Marr (7) and Dilruk Yahathlgoda (0) in quick succession, before Winter dismissed the dangerous David Hughes for eight on his way to figures of 3-34.

It was then the turn of Andy Williams to steal the show, with the talented bowler decimating the lower order which included Jamie Ducker (31), Adam Doyle (6) and wicketkeeper Phil Young (5) as he ended the day with a five wicket salvo for the loss of just 24 runs.

Mosert helped himself to a further wicket to end on 2-15 as the visitors collapsed to just 74 all out from 28 overs.

The home run chase began poorly when Winter was sent back to the pavilion by Linton Terblanche for four, and the same bowler trapped Nadeem Rehman for a duck soon after.

Marr then took a pair of wickets in the form of Mosert (0) and Marshall (3), but a patient 31 from Sion Evans tipped the scales in the home side’s favour.

Despite Williams top scoring with 14 thereafter, the title challengers were able to get over the line for the loss of eight wickets after 23 overs of play.
