WARM sunshine and blue skies welcomed thousands of music fans to the fourth edition of Festival No.6 to Portmeirion last weekend.

Such big names as Grace Jones, Mark Ronson and Llandudno four-piece Catfish and the Bottlemen were among the musical acts who performed at the three-day Gwynedd festival.

Also making appearances across the weekend were Years and Years, Cor y Brythoniaid and headliners, Belle and Sebastian, Metronomy and James.

In addition, there were dozens of DJs, comedians, talks and even cooking masterclasses taking place across the weekend, which included appearances from creator of the award-winning Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan, a talk by Howard Marks, and a show by the frontman of Bethesda’s Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys, who was joined onstage by Patagonian guitar maestro Rene Griffiths.

With around 15,000 descending on the spectacular tourist village for the three day festival, Portmeirion was temporarily transformed into Gwynedd’s second most populous area.

Festival founder Gareth Cooper said: “It’s been another incredible festival with show stopping performances across the board.

“Our wonderful guests were as ever amazing, generating an unparalleled atmosphere, but the star of the show yet again was Portmeirion itself – with the sun shining there truly isn’t a more beautiful setting on earth. Be seeing you all next time.”

Cllr Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council cabinet member for economy and the arts, said: “I’m delighted with the success of Festival No6, and the buzz it has created within the county.

“In this age of live streaming and photosharing, images of our stunning scenery and the warm Gwynedd welcome can be sent to all corners of the world in an instant.

“I am confident that the publicity surrounding high profile events such as these put Gwynedd on the national and international stage, showing that it is an exciting place with plenty to offer.”
