THERE were no last-minute surprises as the final line-up of candidates was confirmed for the Arfon seat in the General Election.

Nominations for parliamentary candidates closed on Thursday, April 9, with a total of six confirmed for the constituency which covers much of northern Gwynedd, including Bangor, Caernarfon, Bethesda and Felinheli.

Voters heading to the polls on May 7 will have a choice between current Plaid Cymru MP Hywel Williams, Labour candidate Alun Pugh, UKIP candidate Simon Wall, Lib Dem candidate Shultan Mohammed, Socialist Labour candidate Kathrine Jones and Conservative Barry Anwen.
