FROM opening a new shop in Llangefni to co-organising an event in the Caribbean, 2015 is fast becoming a whirlwind year for Anglesey sports events company Always Aim High Events.

The firm behind the Anglesey Half Marathon, the Tour de Mon cycle sportive and the Snowman, Slateman and Sandman Triathlon series to name a few, is set to open a new store at its Events Hub base at the town’s industrial estate.

The company, which re-located to the island from its previous base at Brynrefail earlier this year, has created 10 jobs since it was first established five years ago by directors Tim Lloyd and Nigel Kendrick.

This year, the company is holding its first ever Cardiff Triathlon, organising new events in England and even assisting with a triathlon event in Carribean country St Kitts and Nevis.

Tim Lloyd said: “Things are brilliant. We’re going into our fifth year and when we first started the business up, we set five year targets, but we’ve more than doubled those targets in five years. We’re way ahead of schedule.

“We’re working on an event overseas, so we’re becoming an exporter of events outside of Wales. We’re working with the government and local authorities to try and build an industry in Wales to export these events. We’ve got the support to continue to grow.

“The shop is just an example of the success of the company and we’re just responding to demand really.”

As well as entries to the company’s portfolio of events, the new shop will also stock specialist clothing, equipment, nutritional supplements and merchandise for athletes.

Discounts will be made available to those visiting the shop looking to enter themselves into an event, while club runners and athletes, as well as those preparing for a future Always Aim High event, will be eligible for further savings.

Plans are also in the offing to hold weekly community runs from the store.

Shop manager Roanna Andrews said: “We’re really excited. It’ll give local people an opportunity to buy good products that aren’t available in other places locally.

“I imagine it’ll be really busy here on the day of the launch and hopefully afterwards too.”

The public launch of the Always Aim High store takes place at 10am on Saturday, April 11.
