AN E-PETITION has been submitted calling for a future Wylfa B to use coal as opposed to nuclear power. The petition, submitted on the Welsh Assembly website by Welsh independence group, Sovereign Wales, has so far attracted 34 signatures from people across the country and beyond. The e-petition reads: “We call on the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to work with the new owners of Wylfa B, Hitachi, to encourage the use of clean Welsh coal or our other plentiful supplies of viable technologies/resources instead of a dangerous nuclear power plant.” Plans for Wylfa B are currently being drawn up by developers Horizon, after the company was bought out by a consortium headed by Japanese electronics giants Hitachi last year.
The petition will be open on the assembly.org website until November 7.
