CITY ended 91 years at Farrar Road with an all-action win that also sent them to the Welsh Premier League summit.

Chairman Dilwyn Jones hailed the result and the 2,593 fans who saw home grown stars Les Davies and Sion Edwards put Nev Powell 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes.

“It was fantastic. You couldn’t have written a better script - what more could you ask for?” he said.

City dominated early on, as Davies put the home side ahead after only two minutes.

Widemen Chris Jones and Sion Edwards were at the centre of City’s efforts, and Edwards doubled the lead when he raced onto a great long ball from Peter Hoy,. Recovered from a stumble and shot past Town keeper Dave Roberts.

Prestatyn were back in the game after 25 minutes, when Neil Gibson weaved through the City defence and slid his shot past Lee Idzi and into the bottom right hand corner.

It could have been all square soon after, but Paul O’Neill headed just wide from Gibson’s corner.

The Citizens started the second half strongly, and were rewarded when Dave Morley hit a thunderous drive from outside the area past Dave Roberts.

Bangor went 4-1 up three minutes later, when Craig Garside got the all important touch on a Chris Jones cross.

Town did not give in however, and pulled a goal back with a Ross Stephens penalty on 67 minutes.

Midfield dynamo Dave Morley got his second when he pounced in the scramble for Chris Jones’ cross.

However, Bangor keeper Lee Idzi had to be alert to stop a shot from Parker as the second half wore on.

Steve Rogers somehow managed to miss a golden opportunity to hit back for Town, when he scuffed a shot well over.

Parker gave his side a glimmer hope with a smart finish on 76 minutes, although City’s defenders should have dealt with the attack.

Cut were always the stronger side, however, with Davies forcing a save from Roberts

While Prestatyn proved to be plucky opponents, striker Kyle Wilson was in no doubt that his side deserved the three points.

“I think we should have had the game sewn up in the first half of the first half.

“The scoreline flattered them a bit - we dominated the them for the whole game really,” he said.

Phil Lunn, Marc Lloyd-Williams, Iorys Griffiths, Jamie Reed and Viv Williams were among more than 40 City heroes who saluted the crowd before the game.

Menai Bridge Band and Batala Bangor provided entertainment before kick off, and fans gathered on the pitch at full time to watch a DVD projection of highlights from nearly 100 years at Farrar Road.

The Blues will relocate to Nantporth in the New Year, and Dilwyn Jones was looking to the future after the final whistle.

“To be fair, the ground is stuck in the 20th century. The new one is built for the 20th century, and hopefully there will be another 100 years there.

“We’re top of the league and the champions leaving here. You couldn’t have asked for more,” he said.

Next up for City is a return fixture with Prestatyn (date to be confirmed).
