AN ANGLESEY village has the most desirable post code in Wales, according to a new study.
Brynteg (LL78), near Benllech, came out on top of a survey by the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR), commissioned by the Royal Mail to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the postcode.
Cllr Ieuan Williams, leader of Anglesey Council said, “As someone who lives in the area, I agree that Anglesey is a great place to live and work.
“It doesn’t therefore surprise me that this area has been ranked as one of the most desirable places to live according to this study.
He added: “As a council, our aim above all else is that the Island is given every opportunity to thrive into the future.”
Brynteg beat Llantwit Major (CF61) in the Vale of Glamorgan, Llanidloes (SY18) in Powys, Caldicot (NP26) in Monmouthshire and north west Swansea (SA4).
CEBR compiled the results based on factors such as availability of jobs, quality of education, quality of healthcare, safety, environment and the affordability of housing.
Steve Rooney, head of the Royal Mail’s address management unit, said: “As it has evolved, the postcodes have also revolutionised the way companies do business.
“The postcode is now used by businesses and individuals in their everyday activities, whether that is verifying a person’s address when making a transaction or planning a route on a SatNav system.”
