THREE of the footballing world’s most famous trophies paid Gwynedd and Anglesey a visit earlier this week.

As part of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) counting down to the UEFA Super Cup Final in Cardiff on August 12, the trophy has been joined by the Champions League and Europa League trophies on a roadshow around Wales.

Hundreds of football fans flocked to Bangor city centre on Monday to see and have their picture taken with the trophies after the trio were paraded on the summit of Snowdon after a trip on the mountain railway.

Alan Kendall, general manager at Snowdon Mountain Railway, said: “It’s great for us to again be involved in such an historic occasion following a similar journey made by the Queen’s baton just a couple of months ago.

“This is the first time the trophies have been in Wales at the same time and we were delighted to play a part to ensure such an iconic event went ahead without a hitch.”

The following day, the trophies made an appearance at Bangor City’s The Book People Stadium, before making the trip across the Menai Strait to Llanfairpwll.
