POLICE have recovered a number of stolen items after conducting a search in the Maesgeirchen estate in Bangor.

Following an increased police presence on Tuesday, North Wales Police have confirmed they were responding to intelligence concering the stolen property.

Police also confirmed the search did not relate to any specific crime on the  estate and was not in connection with an assault investigation.

DCI Iestyn Davies said: “Whilst I can appreciate that some residents on the estate may have been concerned by the increased police presence I can assure them that it did not relate to any criminality on the estate and that we were responding to specific intelligence concerning property which may have been discarded in this area.

"Specialist search officers have recovered items which we were looking for.

"I am not in a position to elaborate further on what these items were and I would like to thank the residents of Maegeirchen for their assistance and understanding during the operation.”
