BURGLARS made off with large quantities of prescription drugs after forcing entry into a Llangefni pharmacy.

Police are seeking witnesses after thieves forced their way through the front door of Boots, on the High Street, at 3.40am yesterday morning (Wednesday).

They made off with a “substantial” amount of diazepam, as well as other medication.

Sergeant Owain Llewellyn at Llangefni Police Station said: “A substantial amount of diazepam, packaged in white boxes has been taken and I cannot emphasise enough the potential dangers of taking any of this medication without it being prescribed by an appropriate physician.

“Fortunately this type of offence is rare and with the continued support and vigilance from the local community I’m sure we can quickly identify those responsible.

“It is imperative we locate the medication as quickly as possible and so If you witnessed this incident or have any information about who is responsible please contact Police on 101 immediately.

“It is worth reminding all house holders and business owners to be vigilant at all times, always ensure your property is locked and secured and if you see any suspicious behaviour contact police immediately.”

Anyone who has any information should contact police on 101 or call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and quote reference RC14029133.
