SIX people have been arrested in connection with a spate of burglaries in an early morning raid.

Police executed a search warrant at the old hospital in Minffordd, on the outskirts of Bangor, yesterday and arrested six suspects in connection with a number of burglaries committed across Anglesey and Gwynedd.

Those arrested were the occupants of caravans currently located on the site. The operation involved 25 officers, which included specialist search teams, detectives and forensic experts.

A number of vehicles, caravans and property have been recovered by officers.

Detective Constable Steve Watts said “This was a planned operation in response to a number of burglaries where commercial premises were targeted.

"Six suspects have been arrested and are currently being questioned at a local police station.

"A thorough search was undertaken and suspected stolen property was recovered.

"These types of offences are our priority and I would like to reassure the community that we take them very seriously.”
