Elderly man and woman in hospital after Anglesey house fire

A MAN and woman in their 70s were taken to hospital this morning after a fire at their Anglesey home.

Crews from Llangefni and Menai Bridge fire stations were called to the house fire in Rhosmeirch at 4.11am this morning (Thursday).

The fire caused a small amount of damage in the living room, as well as 50 per cent smoke damage to the ground floor and 10 per cent damage to the first floor.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.15am to reports of a fire at a property in Rhosmeirch, near Llangefni.

“A paramedic in a rapid response car and an emergency ambulance were dispatched to the scene, and a man and a woman in their 70s with smoke inhalation were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.”

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue.
