A SUSPECTED mobile phone thief in Bangor was foiled after a smartphone app revealed his location.
Officers arrested a man after a phone had been stolen from a nightclub at around 3.15am on Thursday, September 26.
The victim was able to trace the location of the stolen phone by using the ‘find my iPhone’ app on a friend’s mobile phone.
The app displayed a map locating the stolen phone on Bangor High Street, which was slowly moving down towards Glynne Road.
Inspector Neil Thomas said: “Officers were dispatched to that location and calls made to the stolen phone which resulted in the officers identifying a suspect who was subsequently arrested after the stolen phone was found in his possession.”
