15 jobs gone as Holyhead restaurant closes

THE closure of a popular Holyhead restaurant has led to the loss of 15 jobs.

Venue Walkway, which opened in Summer 2011, was funded by a £6 million project to regenerate Holyhead town centre, but the declining popularity of Market Street and the town centre have been widely cited as reasons for the closure.

Holyhead Town Councillor John Knox Crawford said: “It’s sad becuase they’re a very well used and well liked institution, and it had the confidence of the town council as a whole.

“The whole [Market Street] area seems to be unhappy, and with other establishments opening ousite the town centre, it seems to have drawn enough business away for it to close.”

Many customers flocked to Facebook to send their messages of sympathy and thanks.
Theresa Thomas commented on Facebook: “thank you to all the staff for making our family feel so welcome every time we came there, so gutted for you all, going to miss the place and the staff xx”.

Sian Jones said: “Gutted!! Had fantastic afternoons and evenings at the Venue. U all tried do very hard. Good luck to you all for the future x”.
