Snow causes road havoc and school closures

TODAY'S snow has brought a number of traffic problems across Anglesey and Gwynedd.

A six vehicle accident was reported between Llandegai and Bangor on the A4244 junction at 1:40pm.

The road was impassable for one and a half hours, and recovery was required for one of the vehicles. No one was injured.

Snow has also caused disruption on the A55 near Holyhead and a temporary closure on the A487 through Bontnewydd.

Meanwhile several schools across Gwynedd were forced to close their doors due to the heavy snowfall in the area.

Primary schools , Ysgol Penybryn, Bethesda, Ysgol Babanod Abercaseg, Ysgol y Faenol, Ysgol Glancegin, Ysgol Y Felinheli, Ysgol Rhiwlas, Ysgol Tregarth, Ysgol Cwm y Glo, Ysgol Llanrug, Ysgol Llanllyfni, Ysgol Llandegai, Ysgol Penisarwaen, ysgol Llandwrog, Ysgol Pendalar and Ysgol Hendre were all closed.

Secondary schools, Ysgol Friars, Ysgol Tryfan, Ysgol Brynrefail, Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen were also closed to all, except sixth form pupils due to sit exams.

On Anglesey, all council offices have been closed, including leisure centres and libraries, while all schools have also been instructed to close early.
