Team GB cycling coach David Brailsford, who also helmed Team Sky to Tour de France Glory, has received a knighthood. 

PEOPLE from across Anglesey and Gwynedd have been recognised in the New Year Honours List.

TEAM GB cycling supremo David Brailsford, of Deiniolen, has received a knighthood in recognition of his services to the sport after his team's superb performances in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Ysbyty Gwynedd consultant physician Dr Mahdi Jibani, of Llanfairpwll, was appointed  an MBE for his work in medicine.

Former director of therapies and health sciences at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Dr Keith Griffiths, of Caernarfon, has been appointed an OBE.

Meanwhile, a clinical specialist physiotherapist at the Child Development Centre in Bangor, has been appointed an MBE for her service to children with disabilities.

Gerald Robert Williams, of Trawsfynydd, received for contributions to Wales' cultural and literary life. Mr Williams welcomes visitors to the former home of his uncle, the celebrated poet Hedd Wyn.
