ENGLAND internationals could be gracing Colwyn Bay Cricket Club’s Penrhyn Avenue home this summer when Glamorgan host both Yorkshire and Lancashire in their annual North Wales fixtures.

The two local rivals will visit from May 1-5 as part of a special celebration of Glamorgan’s 125th anniversary.

Lancashire, who have stars such as current England fast bowler James Anderson and Australian batsman Simon Katich in their ranks, will face Glamorgan in the 4-day County Championships match from Wednesday 1 to Saturday 4 May.

Yorkshire will provide a stern test in the Pro 40 game a day later as they have current England batsman Jonny Bairstow along with former England bowlers Ryan Sidebottom and Adil Rashid in their squad.

As part of the South Wales club’s anniversary year, a range of additional activities will also be arranged, including children’s coaching clinics and a sportsman’s evening.

Cllr Graham Rees was delighted. “We always request to have either Yorkshire or Lancashire visit Colwyn Bay as we know that they will bring the largest following due to the short travel distance, but to have both Counties is a first for this annual fixture and I am sure that there will be a great atmosphere.”
