The Bee Gees
Number Ones
Rhino Records UK - out now

I WAS a tad skeptical at the prospect of an hour spent listening to nothing but the Bee Gees when I first put this CD into my car's stereo.

But let me tell you, I was a moron.

A drive home after a long day at work with the likes of 'Staying Alive' and 'You Should Be Dancing' blasting at full volume, complete with rubbish dance moves - what's not to love?!

A few too many slow ones on here, if truth be told, but what the heck. Fantastic compilation of number one singles, which makes you realise just how many of their songs have been covered in the recent past (I Started A Joke, Words, Tragedy, More Than A Woman, Islands In The Stream), and also that true pop songwriting ability died out a long time ago.

I don't think we'll see the likes of the Bee Gees again in this country, and we'll be the poorer for it.
