LLANDUDNO’S retail sector is set to be given a shot in the arm with news of the opening of a new store.

Women’s clothing retailers Viyella and Country Casuals will be opening a new store at 68 Mostyn Street on Friday.

The new shop will see the closure of the former Viyella in the Victoria Centre.

Area manager Chris Aitken said: “We look forward to offering customers a first class shopping experience and are confident that our new store will be a great success.”

Susan Morris, chair of the Llandudno Federation of Small Businesses, said the moving in of Sainsbury’s further along the high street had proved a “good catalyst” for the town.

She added: “Viyella isn’t new, but I think it’s wonderful - any new shop should be welcomed with open arms, and I just hope the customers feel the same way.”

Sue Nash, centre manager for the Victoria Centre, said the Viyella store had traded well in the shopping centre, and they would wait to see who else could take over the premises.
She said: “We don’t know who’s going to turn up on our doorstep.”
