A HEADTEACHER at the centre of fraud investigation has been charged with theft.

Andrew Wilkie, headteacher at Southdown County Primary School in Buckley, was arrested before Christmas on suspicion of fraud.

He was released on police bail pending further enquiries, but has now been charged with theft.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “A 41-year-old man from Buckley has been charged with two counts of theft by employee and is due to appear before magistrates on February 14.”

A spokesman for Flintshire Council said: “This is a matter that the council has referred to North Wales Police.”

Southdown CP school, which is on Linderick Avenue, has about 420 pupils in total with 150 infants and 218 juniors.

The school has a planned admission of 54 pupils in September.
