LADY Luck smiled on a mystery Colwyn Bay punter who scooped more than £18,000 on a £3 stake.
A regular client at William Hill on Station Road, Colwyn Bay, took the shop's biggest ever payout after selecting four winning horses at large odds - one of which was 40/1.
The client - who wishes to remain anonymous - placed a series of bets on Thursday, January 19 on races taking place throughout the afternoon.
His tipped horses were What An Oscar at Ludlow at 2.10pm, Gee Hi at Taunton at 4.20pm, Cape Of Storms at Wolverhampton at 6.00pm, and Archie Rice at Wolverhampton at 6.30pm.
When his horses came in, the client's ship came in as well, earning him a grand total of £18,772.83 for his £3 stake.
The win could not have come at a more appropriate time for the customer as he was recently made redundant from his sales role
He said: "I'm still in shock. It's the biggest thing that's ever happened to me. It's my birthday next week and my dad's the week after - his present is going to be rather interesting, that's for sure!"
Lucy Rhodes, William Hill spokeswoman, said: "This fantastic win couldn't have come at a better time for the lucky punter and now he won't need to be worrying where the next paycheck is coming from!"
