A FIRM of door fitters are to feature on the prime time after answering an SOS call.
James Wayte and Gary Jones, owners of Door World in Rhyl, worked alongside Nick Knowles and his band of handy helpers on the BBC One TV programme DIY SOS.
James said: “The call was out of the blue and I didn’t believe it was the BBC at first. Having lost someone close to me with cancer I understood some of what the family were going through and I wanted to help.
“North Wales has been good to us in the six years since we started and it is nice to be able to put something back.”
The company was called into action after hearing the plight of deserving a father and daughter, David and Erika Williams, who live in Dolgarrog.
David had bought a cottage with his wife Gemma with the hope of restoring it but Gemma developed cancer and David gave up work to care for her and his daughter.
After Gemma died, David himself was diagnosed with cancer just three months after he lost his wife.
The cottage restoration took a back seat, but was completed in just nine days by the SOS team.
The door fitters were chosen to provide nine doors to the cottage restoration, which took place against the clock.
Gary said. “Having young children myself I was very keen to help any way I could."
The programme will air on BBC One tonight at 8pm.
