A RHYL artist has been offered an out of this world opportunity to be part of an exclusive movie memorabilia collection stateside.
Ryan Hall, 37, has been invited to contribute towards the prestigious private collection which celebrates the Star Wars universe.
Rancho Obi-Wan is a non-profit Star Wars memorabilia museum on the outskirts of California, home to nearly 9,000 square feet of Star Wars movie props and works of art.
The former Rhyl High School pupil was brought to the attention of Rancho Obi Wan’s owner Steve Sansweet after Ryan’s work was spotted by a staff from Star Wars magazine.
The UK editor of the publication saw Ryan’s 3D paperwork featured in the Christmas store window display of Orbital Comics in London and contacted the Star Wars collecting legend.
“I had no idea who the guy running the exhibition was,” said Ryan, who is busy deciding which 3D Star Wars character to submit.
“I just thought he was some fan with some pictures in his garage.
“He owns the biggest Star Wars exhibition in the world and knowing my work will be displayed along side some of the original props means a lot to me.”
Ryan, of Colin Drive, graduated from his Glyndwr University, Wrexham, illustration course two years ago and has since been employed as a toy designer and invited to a workshop hosted by Lego in Denmark.
Despite his international appeal, Ryan, who hopes to break into movie prop and set design, has been involved with community projects close to his hometown.
“I work along with a great group of young film-makers at The Scala, Prestatyn.
“I have worked on a couple of things with them and hosted workshops.”
Journal readers may have viewed Ryan’s work without knowing it with the unveiling of a recent display at Rhyl’s White Rose Centre of local artists work as part of the Regeneration Through Art project.
The project uses artwork to improve the look of the town’s empty shops.
