GLAMORGAN Cricket Club will be returning to their second home in North Wales for another three years after agreeing a new deal with Colwyn Bay.

The Welsh county club will continue to showpiece games at the Penrhyn Road cricket ground until 2014, and Colwyn Bay chairman Brian Hughes said he was delighted to welcome Glamorgan for another three years.

“It’s a very popular weekend at Colwyn Bay, given the weather that we get here, and it’s great to bring first class cricket to North Wales.

"I know Glamorgan and their players enjoy coming here.”

This year Glamorgan will take on Yorkshire in a four-day County Championship match from June 5-9, and Durham in a 1-day Pro40 Game on June 10.

Cllr Graham Rees, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Corporate Modernisation, said: “Glamorgan have been coming to the area for a number of years now, but it has always been on an ad hoc basis. This agreement allows all parties to plan well in advance and hopefully develop the games into a festival of cricket for everyone can enjoy.”

“Where else in North Wales can the public see top-class sporting action with internationals playing on your doorstep? Colwyn Bay Cricket Club must also be commended for continuing to provide a top-class sporting facility that has the ability to attract games of this standard.”
