A HOMEWARE shop is to close a year after setting up in a new shopping mall in Hampshire – and will be replaced with women’s fashion store Monsoon.
Sabichi in Whiteley Shopping Centre is holding a closing down sale as it comes to the end of its 12-month lease contract.
The 20-year-old firm opened an outlet at the centre in early summer last year selling a range of upmarket homeware goods.
But it is due to shut its doors a year on with company bosses saying it was only ever intended as a temporary “pop up” store.
The Daily Echo understands that women’s clothing store Monsoon has been lined up to replace the store once a refit has taken place.
Whiteley Shopping Centre opened last May creating around 1,550 jobs and bringing a huge selection of high street brand names.
Nearly 2,000 more workers and specialist contractors were involved in building work.
As reported, more than 30 jobs will be created at the centre when pan-Asian restaurant Wagamama and Japanese eatery YO! Sushi open their doors.
They join a growing collection of well-known restaurants including Chimichanga, Dean’s Diner, Frankie & Benny’s, Prezzo and Harvester.
