MOTORISTS have been urged to keep valuables out of sight after a spate of vehicle crimes in north Gwynedd.

16 vehicles were broken into on Garth Road and Siliwen Road in Upper Bangor last weekend.

Incidents were also reported in Caernarfon Road and Glanadda in Bangor, Bethel and Cwm Y Glo near Caernarfon.

North Wales Police has increased uniformed patrols in these areas and leaflets containing crime prevention advice are being distrubted.

Sergeant Averil Coppack said: “Some thefts can be avoided and we are urging motorists right across the area to take some simple measures– even a coat left in the back of a car could be enough to tempt a thief,"

“We are asking people to more vigilant when it comes to leaving items on display and parking in well lit areas.

"We would also urge people to ensure that their cars are locked.”
