Mary Griffiths scored twice

LLANFAIR Caereinion put in a stylish display, on and off the pitch, in a 6-0 victory over Pwllheli in the second division of the North Wales League.

Deb Barker scored the opening two goals in the first 15 minutes, before hurriedly making her way to Shrewsbury for a pre-arranged hair appointment.

Mary Griffiths added a brace with Nia Foulkes and Welsh under 16 trialist Sara Rudd completing the easy win.

Meanwhile Welshpool allowed Rhyl off the hook in the first division of the North Wales Ladies’ League in a 2-2 draw on the coast.

Sonja Evans fired Pool ahead, only for Sophie Edwards to reply for the hosts.

Sarah Thomas restored Welshpool’s lead with the visitors spurning a raft of chances, before being punished at the the other end with Helen Bateman firing home.

Newtown edged a 2-1 verdict over Mid Wales rivals Dysynni in an end-to-end thriller.

Dysynni opened the scoring early in the second-half only for Town to hit back through Jacqui Loxam and Nicky Jones to ensure a bright start to 2012 for Newtown Ladies.
